The purpose of the Canterbury Air Regional Plan is to improve air quality in our region. To help achieve this, we are encouraging cleaner forms of heating in Clean Air Zones.
for the rules relating to home heating where you live. Open fires and older style burners can no longer be used in some areas. Low emission burners are also being phased out in some areas and can no longer be used be used from 15-20 years after installation.
A small number of pellet burners have been issued with a resource consent, and can be operated it until this consent expires. If you are unsure if this is applies to you, or want to find out more, please call us on 0800 324 636.
The Christchurch City Council have updated some of their records to electronic form. Use can use the link below to check when your log bunrer was consented and when it is due to expire. Not all records have been updated to this format so you may still need to contact the council
